Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009 Singapore Stopover

The Volvo Ocean Race has been touted as the “F1 as well as the Everest of the Sea” and this is the first time Singapore will be one of the ports. Singapore is also the only Southeast Asian and longest stopover in the entire race calendar.

With a staggering 37,000 nautical miles to cover in a span of 9 months, these teams of 11 men brave near-death experiences on a daily basis to amaze not just themselves but also more than 2 billion TV and internet viewers around the world, as they conquer life at the extreme.

The boats pull into Singapore for a month long stopover on December 22nd. Based at the ONEº15 Marina Club on Sentosa, the boats and teams will provide a visual spectacle for visiting schools, parents, race lovers and members of the general public.

During the Stopover, there will be a race village built with activities for everyone to get up close and personal with the sailors and the awe-inspiring boats and be part of this world-class event!
